Step into the world of your favorite historical romance novels on an unforgettable retreat in England. Designed for readers who swoon for manor houses, literary history, and storybook settings, this experience blends iconic London bookshops with the timeless charm of the English countryside. Every detail is curated for connection, cozy conversation, and the feeling of living inside a beloved romance.
Because of the incredible response and high demand for our retreats, we use a lottery system to keep the process smooth, fair, and glitch-free. This system allows us to thoughtfully manage bookings and ensure every guest has an equal opportunity to join us. 50% of spots go to new customers and 50% of spots go to returning guests.

A Week Designed for Book Lovers
London, England + English Countryside & Bath

7-night stay: 3 nights at a 4-star hotel in central London and 4 nights at our private historic English countryside manor dating back to the 15th century (about an hour outside of Bath). Pricing varies based on room and bed configurations.

Roundtrip private bus transportation from London to the manor, plus roundtrip transport for our day trip to Bath.

Daily breakfast, five dinners, and three lunches included. Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages provided during our manor stay as well. We’ll coordinate all dietary restrictions and preferences in advance.

Our retreat book pick (TBD, but the genre will be historical romance) will be mailed to you about six weeks before our departure, along with a welcome box of goodies themed around our book retreat!

Pre-planned excursions, games and group activities (see more details below) to connect with attendees. But don’t worry - there will be plenty of reading time!

Your journey begins in London, where we’ll soak up the city’s timeless charm. This part of the trip is all about exploring iconic bookshops, enjoying tea-time chats with authors, optional theater nights, and having plenty of free time to wander picturesque streets of one of the world’s most beloved literary cities before we retreat to the English countryside for a slower, more intimate next chapter.

Hotel Details
Our London stay will be at The Montague on the Gardens, a charming 4-star hotel in the heart of Bloomsbury. Just steps from the British Museum, it places us close to iconic bookshops, historic streets, and the magic of London. With classic interiors, a peaceful garden setting, and old-world character, it offers the perfect blend of British elegance and cozy comfort for the city chapter of our retreat.
Retreat pricing includes one twin bed in a shared hotel room with one other retreat guest. Prefer your own space? A limited number of solo rooms (with one double bed) are available for an additional $350 at checkout.
PART 2
English Countryside
After London, we’ll travel together to the English countryside for a cozy stay at a beautiful manor dating back to the 1400s. This slower-paced portion of the retreat is all about connection, relaxation, and immersive bookish experiences.

Historic Manor Details
Tucked away in the English countryside, our retreat home for 4 nights feels like something historical romance lovers might dream up: an enchanting 15th-century manor surrounded by dreamy gardens and peaceful corners. It’s the perfect place for cozy chats, quiet morning reading sessions, leisurely walks with a novel in hand, and intimate evenings designed to feel magical and delightfully removed from everyday life.
Please note:
Our historic English countryside manor has thick walls, so Wi-Fi is strongest on the ground floor and may be limited in the bedrooms. There is cell service, so guests with an international phone plan should still be able to stay connected. This part of the retreat is meant to feel a bit more unplugged, and the Wi-Fi may not be strong enough for streaming or Zoom calls.

We will be selecting a historical romance novel as our official retreat book pick! All guests will receive a copy ahead of the retreat, along with a thoughtfully curated themed welcome box to help set the scene for our time together.

Each lottery will be open for 72 hours. Fill out the form with your basic info, room preferences, and if you’re booking with someone. If selected, you’ll get a personal email from us within 48 hours of the lottery closing with a private booking link.
You will have 3 days to book, after which we will move on to the next name on the list.

The retreat page has multiple direct link buttons to the lottery application form, which you need to fill out in full.

In our efforts to balance returning guest interest while allowing new guests opportunities to come, we have two separate lottery drawings.

When filling out the form, there is a question that asks if you are signing up with anybody else. Make sure to fill it out with the person’s details you'd like to register with. If either of you are selected, both of you will be invited to attend!
We recommend all people in your party fill out an application to increase your odds.

Flights are not included to/from London. You are responsible for booking your own flights from your home city to London.

No, guests are responsible to transport themselves from the London airport to the Montague Hotel.
We will have a group chat where guests will be able to coordinate arrival times and rideshares if wanted and can advise on best options! -
The meals that aren’t included are dinner on the first night and lunches on exploration days where guests will have the option to explore on their own and choose how they’d like to spend that portion of the day.
We leave these times open-ended so guests can explore at their leisure. However, we will provide recommendations and curated local suggestions for these meals!

We are requiring all guests to purchase travel insurance for this trip. This will ensure you are protected in case of illness, natural disasters, family emergencies, flight delays, or government-related crises.
Our recommendations are World Nomads or Seven Corners Travel Insurance.

Both Boutique Book Retreats co-founders Lauren and Tiina will be guiding the trip, along with an assistant. We have both personally traveled to London and the UK numerous times and have stayed in both London and Bath. You are in great hands!
